Biography
Darren Jay began DJing in 1989 with a residency at Asylum in Woolwich Polytechnic, becoming a fixture in London's party scene before moving to Tenerife in 1991 to collaborate with Mr. C, C.J. Mackintosh, and Ricardo Da Force of the KLF. Back in London, he played Fabio and Grooverider's Rage at Heaven and in 1992 became a resident at the iconic AWOL, performing alongside Randall, Micky Finn, and Kenny Ken.
In 2012 he and Micky Finn launched Sunbeatz Drum and Bass Holidays in Ibiza, which ran for seven years, and he continues to manage AWOL, which holds sold-out events at Ministry of Sound and Fabric. Since 2017 he's toured as sound manager for Larry Heard, also known as Mr. Fingers, playing major festivals including Glastonbury, and he co-founded the Valencia Bass Collective and the label Balearic Breaks, splitting his time between Ibiza and Valencia.
