Biography
Dean DeCosta is a Los Angeles house and techno producer best known as Jamie Thinnes' longtime friend and collaborator, co-founding the label Earthtones Recordings with him in 1998 with backing from the Long family, founders of the influential LA record store Higher Source. He's built a reputation in the dub techno and tech house scenes with releases including the Heimfallen EP and Diminishing Returns, plus a track on Kompakt's celebrated DE9: Closer to the Edit compilation, mixed by Michael Mayer.
His run of releases in the early 2000s earned him a devoted cult following, even as he stepped back from music afterward, and he's remained active in remix work, including a version of Charles Webster and Robert Owens' "Blown Away."
