DJ Rap

Charissa Saverio was born in Singapore to an Italian father and an Irish-Malaysian mother, and moved with her family to Southampton, England, as a teenager before later settling in Walthamstow, East London. Performing as DJ Rap, she became one of the first prominent women in the drum and bass scene starting in the late 1980s, known for both her DJ skills and her production work, including "Spiritual Aura," made with Aston Harvey as Engineers Without Fears.

She founded the label Propa Talent, and her 1999 album Learning Curve blended drum and bass with more accessible, mainstream elements. BBC DJ John Peel played her tracks on his radio show between 1994 and 1997.
