DJ Spun

DJ Spun came up in San Francisco's pre-rave scene of the late 1980s, a period locally known as "The Beat" that blended hip-hop, freestyle, techno, industrial, and Miami bass without the corporate or radio backing that shaped similar scenes in New York, Chicago, and Detroit. He's part of the Loose Control Band with Jonah Sharp and half of the BlakSpun production duo with Mark "Blakkat" Bell.

In 2023 he curated The Beat by Spun, a three-volume compilation on Above Board Projects documenting the West Coast breakbeat rave sound he came up playing between 1988 and 1994. He's since relocated to New York City, where he continues to DJ, produce, and curate.
