Dread

Victor Droszczak, who performs as DJ Dread, was born in Romania and fled with his family as a child during the Communist era, eventually settling in Connecticut. His first exposure to electronic music came in 1986 at a small Greenwich, CT club called Cafe, where Moby held a residency, and Moby's blending of early house with new wave and industrial sounds became a major influence on his own style.

He got his start with a residency at Nightbreed, a new wave and industrial night, which led to guest spots at clubs including the Palladium and Red Zone. In 2004 and 2005 he released In Session 1 and 2, a collaboration with Romanian promoter Luminitza Lupascu and MTV Romania that opened the door to touring his birth country, playing cities including Bucharest, Timisoara, and Brasov.
