Ernie Munson

Ernie Munson was one of San Francisco's earliest house music advocates, building a deep record collection at a time, in the late 1980s, when few in the city shared his enthusiasm for the sound. He became close with Garth Wynne-Jones soon after Garth's arrival in San Francisco, and when Wicked Sound System co-founder Markie briefly returned to the UK after the crew's first Full Moon party in 1991, Munson helped Garth keep Wicked's parties going until Markie came back. He was known for his generosity in opening doors with local venues and DJs, and remained a fixture of the city's house scene for years.
