Biography
Heather Lotruglio, known as Heather Heart, was born in 1971 and grew up in the New York City area, getting swept into the underground dance scene as the UK's Second Summer of Love reached America. In 1990 she co-founded Groove Record Shop in Brooklyn with Frankie Bones and his brother Adam X, the first all-techno record store in the US, and the following year launched the zine Under One Sky, which built a network connecting techno fans across the country and shared the scene's ideas and cultural messages.
She began DJing in 1992, especially at Frankie Bones and Adam X's Storm raves, early gatherings that drew debut US appearances from Richie Hawtin and Sven Väth. In 1999 she was featured in the documentary Better Living Through Circuitry, and in 2015 Mixmag named her one of the 20 women who shaped the history of dance music. She later relocated to Southern California, where she continues to DJ occasionally.
