Huggie

Hector Merida, known as Huggie, has been part of the global underground dance music movement since the mid-1980s, developing a genre-blending style that draws on house, tribal, techno, and progressive elements across extended four-to-eight-hour sets. He's played everywhere from the LA Coliseum to intimate private lofts, performing in 47 of 50 US states as well as South Korea, Canada, and Hawaii, sometimes joined by the percussion group Vector Tribe Drummers.

He first gained notice as a producer and remixer with the track "Paradox Dreams," which appeared alongside work by Micron, Adam X, T-1000, and Frankie Bones on X-Sight Records' 1996-97 compilation Believe 96-97. He's since remixed for Phatt Phunk Records and Funked Up Records, and more recently collaborated with fellow LA DJ Thee-O on the tracks "Night Owl" and "Don't Fake," both released in 2009.
