Mystre

Eric Newman, known as Mystre, was half of the San Francisco trance duo Mars and Mystre with Michael Robbins, releasing the Mars vs. Mystre mixtape series in 1997 and 1998 and throwing raves around the city through the late 1990s. The pair's label, Frequency 8, grew out of the first American record store dedicated to trance, and their 2000 compilation Faith In 2000 became a bestseller before the two went their separate ways shortly after its release.

Mystre took over the Frequency 8 storefront on Haight Street and ran it as Reverb Records, later establishing it as his own Bay Area label releasing solo work, including a 2009 EP called Blasted Again. He's continued playing regular Reverb Records nights around San Francisco, including at the End Up.
