Ransom

Harry Ransom discovered drum and bass in the summer of 1995 after hearing Goldie's Timeless album and the Counterforce DJ mix compilation, and by that winter he was attending club nights and raves around Washington, DC and Baltimore, making weekly vinyl runs and picking up DJing as a hobby. By 1998 he had a weekly college radio show and steady bookings around DC and Baltimore, and started playing national gigs the following year.

In 2001 he began producing, working solo and with local collaborators including Matt Nordstrom of Nadastrom, Rob F and Impulse of Sinthetix, and Alvin Risk, then recording as Corrupt Souls and later as Telemetrik. He became a fixture of the DC scene at venues including U Street Music Hall, 411 Warehouse, and Rock & Roll Hotel, held a residency on Expansion Broadcast from 2006 to 2018, and released music on Baltimore's Tharsis Records. He stopped taking DJ bookings in 2015 and moved to Boston in 2019, where he continues to focus on production under the names Harry Ransom and R4NS0M.
