Biography
Ray Keith, born in Colchester, Essex, began DJing in the 1980s around Essex and Suffolk before immersing himself in London's acid house and rave scenes. His 1990 bootleg remix of Orbital's "Chime," officially released in 1992, launched his production career, and in 1994 he founded Dread Recordings, the label behind bass-heavy jungle classics like "Terrorist" and "Chopper," released under aliases including Renegade and Dark Soldier.
Regarded as one of the godfathers of jungle and drum and bass, he's remixed artists including Moby and Shades of Rhythm, and his nephew, Peter O'Grady, records as the producer Joy Orbison.
