Biography
Terry Francis grew up in Leatherhead, Surrey, and while working as a roofer in 1988 he co-promoted an acid house night at Hamilton's wine bar in the town, in the basement of a rockers' bar where he says the crowd was initially hostile to the music before coming around within a couple of weeks. He went on to work at Swag Records in Croydon and hold a residency at the legendary Stems Club alongside Colin Dale, Mr C, and Eddie Richards, and it was at a residency at London's Heart & Soul that he met future Wiggle partner Nathan Coles.
In March 1994 the two launched Wiggle, a monthly night that helped define what the press came to call tech house, or jokingly, "Croydon Tech House." Francis won Muzik magazine's Best New DJ award in 1997, and in October 1999 began a residency at London's Fabric that has continued ever since. His 1998 mix album Architecture and Fabric 02 are considered landmark releases, and he's also recorded as Housey Doingz with Coles and as G.L.F. alongside Kenneth Graham and Steve Loria.
