Thomas Bullock

Thomas Bullock, originally from Cambridge, England, cut his teeth at the legendary Tonka Sound System parties in the late 1980s alongside DJ Harvey. In 1991 he moved to San Francisco and joined the Wicked Sound System with Garth, Jeno, and Markie, helping define rave and house culture on the West Coast through the early and mid-1990s, producing downtempo music as Mammal and house music as Mirror Boys for Garth's Grayhound label.

In 1996 he moved to New York and formed the electroclash band A.R.E. Weapons, leaving a few years later to start the long-running Rub N Tug parties with Eric Duncan, a name that became the duo's own. As Rub N Tug, the two became in-demand DJs and remixers, working for artists including Roxy Music, LCD Soundsystem, Beastie Boys, and Coldplay, and releasing mix CDs for the aNYthing clothing company and London's Fabric.

Bullock has recorded under a long list of other names and projects, including Map of Africa with DJ Harvey, the punk outfit Bobbie Marie, and edits as Otterman Empire, and in 2011 started a mezcal import business called Spirit Bear in London.
