About This Mix

This is one of the dopest live mixes from Ian Pooley! There's some sloppy mixing here and there but he more than makes up for it with a top-notch track selection and tons of energy. If you listen closely you can even hear the crowd reacting in the background at times.

I bought this tape at the Trance & Jungle Factory (it could have turned into Skills by that point - my memory is a little fuzzy) in Berkeley, CA back in 1998 or so. I was obsessed with Ian Pooley back then and would buy anything that had his name on it (I still love Pooley, btw). I remember I was trying to find a copy of his Meridian album which was really hard to come by even through Amoeba and Rasputin's. After striking out at both shops I stopped in at the T&J Factory and saw this tape sitting in the glass case at the counter. I bought it immediately and I don't think it left my deck for like a month!

Something cool to note about this mix is right near the end he throws in his unreleased remix of Daft Punk's Burnin'. I looked for that track for YEARS only to finally learn through the forums on Discogs that it was never released. I've haven't heard this remix anywhere else which makes this tape extra special IMO. Check it out! 🔊

This mix was ripped from the original cassette on a Nakamichi BX-300, cleaned up in Ableton, and video encoded at 1080p for the best possible HD sound.
