The California Project Mixtapes

Released in October 1994, The California Project is one of the most sought-after artifacts of the American rave era - a limited boxset of 16 cassette tapes featuring exclusive mixes from eight of the West Coast's defining DJs: Ron D Core, DRC, DJ Trance, Thee-O, Jon Bishop, Simply Jeff, DJ Dan, and Vitamin D.

With an initial run of just 100 copies, it was rare the moment it dropped. Two tapes per DJ, eight artists representing the full breadth of the West Coast underground - hard techno, trance, breaks, and everything in between - captured at a moment when the California scene was at the peak of its creative power. For collectors and longtime fans of the era, this is as close to a holy grail as it gets.
