Biography
Garth Wynne-Jones was born in England in 1967 and came up through the London acid house scene around the Tonka Sound System before moving to San Francisco in 1990. In 1991 he founded the Wicked Sound System with fellow London DJs Jeno, Thomas Bullock, and Markie, throwing the free outdoor Full Moon parties that became a defining part of the city's rave scene.
In the mid-1990s the crew imported a custom Turbosound system and toured the country in a restored 1947 Greyhound bus. Garth's 1996 collaboration with E.T.I., "20 Minutes of Disco Glory," became a Wicked Records staple and later appeared on the soundtrack to the film Groove. He founded his own label, Grayhound Recordings, in 1998, releasing more than 50 singles from California artists over the years including DJ Harvey, Rocket, and Mirror Boys.
He continued producing into the 2000s, including San Francisco Sessions Vol. 3 for Om Records in 2001, and has more recently relocated to Los Angeles.
