E-Sassin

Eric Hull started out as a drummer in progressive rock and jazz-fusion bands in the late 1970s before moving through LA's heavy metal scene in the '80s. In 1989 he was pulled into techno and rave culture, and in 1992 he self-released a techno album made on an Atari 1040ST that caught the attention of Sunshine Records, leading to a year and a half touring with the groups L.A. Rave and The Movement. It was on that tour that a production partner dubbed him E-Sassin, and where he first heard jungle.

By 1996 he'd moved fully into drum and bass and founded Sound Sphere Recordings, one of the first American labels dedicated to the genre. The following year he joined San Francisco's Phunkateck collective, and has since released music on Moving Shadow, Thermal, and Pneuma, and remixed artists including Dieselboy.
