Biography
Pat Brodeur, known as Mystical Influence, is regarded as one of the most ubiquitous drum and bass DJ/producers in Toronto history. He headed the drum and bass section at the influential record shop Eastern Bloc, and in 1996 co-founded the label Vinyl Syndicate Recordings with his brother, Chris "Sniper" Brodeur, and Slip & Slide.
The brothers' 1996 collaboration "Dub Plate Pressure," built around vocal samples of MC GQ, became a foundational jungle track. Mystical Influence was a key resident, alongside Sniper, at Toronto's Syrous Sessions and the all-ages FungleJunk Tuesdays at Turbo nightclub, where the Friday basement sessions served as a testing ground for new dubs before they spread across the city's scene.
