Biography
Omar Santana was born October 25, 1967, in Queens, New York, and got his start in the early 1980s inspired by John "Jellybean" Benitez's residency at Manhattan's Funhouse Club. He DJed as part of the Dynamic Rockers crew and began linking up with Arthur Baker and the Tommy Boy and Sleeping Bag Records camps, producing alongside artists including Mantronix, Boogie Boys, T La Rock, and Stetsasonic.
He became known as one of hip hop's "Editing Kings" for his remix and edit work for artists including Public Enemy, Janet Jackson, Simply Red, Quincy Jones, and The Rolling Stones. He later founded H2OH Recordings to release his own brand of hardcore techno and breaks, a style he calls "hardhop," followed by a sister label, Tricked Out Recordings.
