Biography
Scott Allen grew up in Seattle, Washington, falling for new wave and synth-pop at 10 before turning to hip-hop collecting a few years later. At 18 he moved to the LA area to attend Chapman University and play water polo, where he met his future DJ partner, Tim Andren, in his dorm.
Around 1994 the two formed the duo Neosoul, and about three years later Scott and his roommates bought their first turntables, quickly circulating mixtapes and landing bookings at LA clubs and parties, later touring the US and Canada and sharing bills with DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, and the Bassbin Twins. When the breakbeat scene slowed around 2001, he returned to his roots in drum and bass.
In January 2011 he launched the label Soul Deep Recordings, building a roster that included Dramatic & dbAudio, Furney, Paul SG, and Blade, and in 2012 he started a second label, Soul Rebel Recordings.
