Jamalski

Jamalski was born in New York, the son of a jazz drummer and an artist, and got his start in music and club culture as a teenager while running a handmade bead company in the early 1980s. In 1991 he appeared alongside KRS-One as a member of Boogie Down Productions on the album Edutainment, and went on to sign a solo deal with Russell Simmons, helping pioneer the ragga-hip-hop crossover sound with his debut album, Roughneck Reality, and singles including "Jump Spread Out."

He became one of the top MCs in the American jungle and drum and bass scene through the '90s, performing alongside Aphrodite, Jumpin Jack Frost, Dieselboy, DJ Dara, Rinse and Flux, Phantom 45, Danny the Wildchild, DJ Dan, and Fatboy Slim. His 1993 track "Put It On," recorded with Rocker-T for Capitol Records, became a genre staple later remixed by Liondub and Bluntskull. His song "Jump and Move," recorded with the Brand New Heavies, was later featured throughout the film Happy Feet, including its merchandise.
