Miles Maeda

Miles Maeda started as a college radio DJ in 1988 while at Indiana University, discovering early Chicago house and Detroit techno and making trips to Chicago's Gramophone Records, where Derrick Carter worked at the time. He relocated to Chicago in the early '90s and became part of the city's house scene alongside Carter, Mark Farina, and Spencer Kincey, co-founding the Material and Atmospheric Audio Chair club nights and eventually holding a Smartbar residency that ran more than a decade.

He moved to San Diego in 1995, where he built a career in yoga and meditation alongside his music, and later spent several years living in Tokyo, where he started the ZenDaze party and began releasing music as Total M. He's since returned to Southern California, continuing to produce and DJ.
