MC Skibadee

Alphonso Bondzie was born in Waterloo in London in 1975 and started MCing after going to jungle raves in the early 1990s, taking his cue from MC Det and the Ragga Twins. He was on City Sound Radio's Live and Direct show from 1993 alongside the DJs Pro-D and Cyrus, was playing Thunder & Joy and Spirit of the Jungle by 1995, and was a resident on the pirate station Kool FM by the end of that year.

In late 1997 he and MC Det built 2Xfreestyle, laying drum and bass tempos over hip hop beats to double the time, a style he often performed with Stevie Hyper D. He formed S.A.S. with Shabba D from 2000, sang on Dillinja's Twist Em Out in 2003 and took a 1Xtra award in 2006.

His own records began with Startin' Sumthin' on Platinum Performers in 2002, followed by Man-A-Man on Rat Records and both UK Jump Off and The Greatest Show in 2003, and Skiba Story on Sativa in 2008. He died on 27 February 2022, aged 47.
