About This Mix

Josh McClintock (aka Curious Josh, Joshua, and Josh from NY) has been spinning since 1991 and is a veteran of the Los Angeles / New York underground house scenes having played with some of the biggest DJs like Doc Martin, DJ Pierre, and Legowelt. He was kind enough to lend me some of his mixtapes to share here.

Here's Josh on Acid Junky Vol. 1: "In late 1993 I had really started to come into my own as a DJ and started to perfect "My Sound". I wanted a really strong tape that I could pass out to promoters, friends, and music lovers. Inspired by Mr. Buzz's "Acid Hits" mixtape series... I decided to start one of my own and named the first tape "Acid Junky". It stuck and helped me get gigs all over Southern California as well as opening up for Doc Martin at Unlock the House."

I want to give a huge shout out to Josh for lending these very special tapes so that I could post them here to share. I've got more tapes from Josh coming soon over the next few weeks - stay tuned!

This mix was ripped from the original cassette on a Nakamichi BX-300, cleaned up in Ableton, and video encoded at 1080p for the best possible HD sound.
