R.A.W.

Raoul Gonzalez grew up in Carson, California, coming up through the South Bay's hip-hop DJ crew culture in the mid-1980s as part of Modern Musique, a promotional collective known as Le Chic Attractions. He was known then as One on One, and it was a DJ battle against J.Rocc of the Beat Junkies that gave him the name he'd carry into the rave scene: scratching a line from a Big Daddy Kane record spelled out R-A-W, later filled in as "Runs All Warehouses."

He moved from hip-hop battles into Los Angeles' warehouse party scene in the early 1990s, working as a jungle record buyer for LA shops Street Sounds and Beat Non Stop, which gave him early access to rare UK jungle imports. Between 1997 and 2005 he released more than 100 vinyl records under the names R.A.W. and B-Boy 3000, on labels including Mictlan, Warner Bros., Sound Sphere, N2O, and Thermal. He's also recorded as 6Blocc for dubstep and Xikano for cumbia, and has played LA's underground and warehouse circuit continuously since the 1980s.
